Gatana for your Organization

Automatically provide Gatana to all team-members in your organization

In Connecting to Gatana we cover how to personally connect to Gatana. However, the main benefit of Gatana is to enable the agents that run in your team. Sometimes, ensuring that everyone follows installation instructions is difficult, or security restrictions might hinder this. In this this page we shows how an admin can configure ChatGPT and Claude to automatically install Gatana in all members of their organization.

Note that each member connects Gatana with their own Gatana account and only gets access to the tools and skills that their account has permission for. For more information see Permissions and Roles.

Supported Environments

  • ChatGPT (Work, Chat)
  • Codex
  • Claude Code
  • Claude.ai
  • Claude Cowork

Claude Code

MCP Connector

  1. Go to Claude Code Admin Settings
  2. Add to Managed settings configuration:
{
  "managedMcpServers":{
    "gatana": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://YOUR_ORG_ID.gatana.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

For more information, see Claude Managed Settings Documentation

Skills

  1. Go to https://claude.ai/admin-settings/skills
  2. Add skill from https://github.com/gatana-ai/gatana-plugins/blob/main/plugins/claude/skills/gatana-skills/SKILL.md
  3. In the list view of Skills, on the right-hand side, open the menu and select Default Access: Required

Recommended: For Claude Code

The Claude Code SessionStart hooks are preferred to the skill from https://github.com/gatana-ai/gatana-plugins. Each person with Claude Code can run gatana install to get a more robust experience. See Connecting to Gatana for more details.

Codex

  1. Go to the Codex policies of your workspace: Admin Console > Agent Security (chatgpt.com/codex/settings/managed-configs).
  2. Add Gatana to the managed defaults (config.toml):
[mcp_servers.gatana]
url = "https://YOUR_ORG_ID.gatana.ai/mcp"
  1. Each member runs codex mcp login gatana once and signs in with their Gatana account.

Claude.ai & Claude Cowork

This applies to Organizations, not personal accounts.

  1. Go to https://claude.ai/admin-settings/skills
  2. Select Add > Upload a Plugin
  3. Upload the plugin-zip file from https://github.com/gatana-ai/gatana-plugins/releases/download/v1.0.1/gatana-chatgpt-plugin-v1.0.1.zip
  4. Make sure to Add the Gatana connector
  5. In the list view of Plugins, on the right-hand side, open the menu and select Default Access: Required

This installs a basic Gatana skill and the Gatana connector to each member. Every member will still have to manually connect Gatana.

ChatGPT Work & Chat

This applies to Business and Enterprise workspaces.

  1. Go to the Admin Console, select your workspace and open Plugins
  2. Select Add > Import marketplace
  3. Enter https://github.com/gatana-ai/gatana-plugins as Source. Leave Path and Branch empty
  4. Select Import marketplace and authorize GitHub
  5. Open the Gatana plugin and set the Installation policy per role: Available or Installed

ChatGPT checks the repository for updates once a day. Sync now under Plugins > Marketplaces pulls them at once.

Note that the plugin declares an MCP server, so ChatGPT marks it Desktop only. Members use it in the ChatGPT desktop app and in Codex. After the install, each member connects Gatana and signs in with their Gatana account.
